Tailor made embedded computer for machines that sort, count and exchange coin and banknotes In 1998 Capax got the contract to develop embedded computers for one of the world leading manufacturers of banking equipment. Due to a limited space inside the machines and the detailed specification on the types and location of the computer ports a custom made solution was chosen. Capax is now, eleven years later, shipping the third generation of custom made computers to this customer. The latest model is based on an ETX module with custom made carrier board and chassis. Since 2005 this model has shipped in more than 4000 units. Marine approved 19" rack based industrial computer Since 2001 Capax has developed and manufactured marine approved computers. Among the customers during these years is one of the world leading manufacturers of computer based navigation solutions for large ships. A marine approved computer has to pass marine specific tests for vibration and EMC. When the computer has passed all the marine tests it gets an IEC-945/EN60945 approval. This approval is then used to classify the computer by one or several members of the International Association of Classification Societies, for example Lloyds or Rina. Once classified the computer could be used onboard a ship and the ship could be insured by an insurance company. Example of ships running Capax computers for navigation are the STENA Line passenger ships and all the Maersk shipping vessels.
